The Project

Casa Museo Rodolfo Siviero has a new interactive information portal on the collection of art history assets and documents produced by the activities of the Minister Plenipotentiary in charge of the Delegation for the Restitution of Works of Art.

Minister Siviero’s diplomatic activities after World War II were behind the return to Italy of many masterpieces, now in the main museums, that had been stolen or illicitly exported in the 1930s and 1940s.

A campaign has been underway since 2024 to review the art and historical content of the collection owned by Regione Toscana. This involves the acquisition of digital images, in view of hosting an accessible archive of the heritage linked to the story of Minister Siviero on this virtual site.

An initial section of the content is now available through narrative itineraries, but files with high-definition images of most of the artworks and files from the photographic archive are currently being completed.

In anticipation of the reopening to the public of the natural site, these web pages represent a third step in the enhancement of the Casa Museo Rodolfo Siviero after the celebratory exhibitions in Guardistallo (PI) and Bibbona (LI), and the recovery of the “Siviero Cross”, exhibited at the Horne Museum in Florence until 4 November 2025.
